Which Hua?
Hua, Deadly Betrothed in Weeping Creek Valley and Hua Qianxiao, The Sword Fanatic in Crimson Forest are different bosses. The linked Hua combat guide is for Deadly Betrothed.
Where to find Hua
Hua, Deadly Betrothed is an early optional boss beneath Sha-Chi Tower in Weeping Creek Valley. She must be defeated for Yu’er’s Flesh Lily route. From Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell, climb the stairs, circle right, drop through the rear hole, slide down the wooden slope, then turn left uphill through the flower cave. Enter the clearing to trigger the encounter.
Prepare without treating recommendations as requirements
PC Gamer recommends a weapon at Level 5 to unlock its ability, improving the healing art and buying upgrade materials from the outpost merchant. These are recommendations, not a minimum-level lock. The author used Jagged Steel but reports that bleed does not work on Hua. An optional Focus Pill is in a chest up the left slope behind The Axemaster’s Holding Cell bell, through an axe-broken route.
Blooming and converging flowers
Flowers bloom periodically and during attacks, then explode. Keep moving and leave space around their positions. Roaming flowers also explode when they gather at one point: watch the convergence and move away. The guide gives no fixed fuse time, radius or requirement to lure all flowers into a corner.
White tracking flowers before a grab
White flowers track and stun, creating an opening for a red grab. Hua may teleport in to attack after firing them. First create distance; dodge or block the white flowers when she is not attacking at the same time. Standing still to block every flower is not a safe universal rule.
Red grab: controller advice, not a universal binding
A red flash precedes the high-damage grab and slash. In the author’s controller notation, red uses the right bumper and blue the left; the author also suggests pressing both when unsure. Check your own bindings instead of transferring this to keyboard or every controller layout. A grab after a grazing red flower is only an observation in the article, not a guaranteed trigger.
Blue counter at the end of four hits
The guide places a predictable blue counterable attack at the end of a four-hit combo. Watch for the blue cue at the end of the combo. The article’s X attack costs no stamina, Y combos add damage after a stun, and LT uses a charged weapon special; these labels describe its controller setup only.
Black smoke slam: dodge instead of tanking
An occasional slam emits black smoke. The author says the next hit drains stamina and also summons flowers that explode later. Dodge this attack rather than absorbing it with a block. The article does not identify a poison effect, a fixed phase transition or exact stamina-damage numbers.
Extend a stun opening with Dread Axe
After stunning Hua, attack during the opening. Near its end, charge Dread Axe Phantom Edge to the first blue indicator; a hit can knock her down and extend the opening slightly. This is not an infinite loop or a claim that a higher charge is better. Keep enough stamina for defense and movement.
Rewards and Flesh Lily pickup · spoilers
Rewards and Flesh Lily pickup · spoilers
Defeating Hua awards Scarlet Wraithblade, a weapon that can summon explosive flowers. Twinned Flesh Lillies are a separate pickup from the corpse beside the pavilion after the fight; use the Flesh Lily guide for Yu’er’s handover. Our trophy entry uses Hua, the Bride in the description of the Scarlet Wraithblade trophy. That wording does not establish a different route or a trophy named Deadly Betrothed.
Source scope
Combat and route are reported by Sean Martin, PC Gamer, 2026-10-29, not our own playtest. The articles do not identify tested platform, patch/build, difficulty or playthrough. Health totals, damage values, phase counts and invulnerability frames are not established.
Patch 1.0302256 — official website November 3; Steam November 4, 2026
Patch 1.0302256 reduces the frequency of grab attacks by Hua, Deadly Betrothed only on Wayfarer and Pathbreaker. Other difficulty settings are unaffected by this change. It does not remove grabs or establish a universal damage reduction. The notes also adjust certain bosses, enemies and environmental mechanisms without listing every affected encounter.
