Crimson Forest: Routes and Quest Checks

Choose a Crimson Forest task: three Quickhand Zhang treasure routes, Boss Bell landmarks and checks before killing Bai Chilian.

Choose your current task

Already in Crimson Forest? Choose an Outlaw Trap treasure, the locked Thieves Camp Dungeon, the cave near Thieves Camp, or a Boss landmark below. These are independent local routes, not a main-story sequence. Full regional entry requirements are not established by our sources; this page starts after you have reached the region. Crimson Manor is a different destination.

Before following a treasure route

PC Gamer says to free Quickhand Zhang when you first meet him in Crimson Forest, then accept his request at his first hideout in Thieves Camp. Start each route at its named landmark; this page does not establish how to unlock every Bell. The dungeon chest requires reaching Cliffside Lodge for its key. The three regional chests reward Flying Dagger (Phantom Edge), according to PC Gamer; this is not the entire multi-region quest.

Outlaw Trap: crank, grate and chest

Start at the Outlaw Trap Bell. Enter the cave directly behind you with the butcher and dogs and collect the Crimson Forest Tunnel Crank. Use it on the floor grate near the Bell; drop down, descend the ladder and cross the wooden bridge. Defeat the second butcher and dogs, then take the left path up the slope to the chest. These directions are PC Gamer's landmark-relative route, not universal compass directions.

Thieves Camp Dungeon: get the key at Cliffside Lodge

If the dungeon gate is locked, first reach Cliffside Lodge. Go upstairs for the cellar crank, open the cellar and drop down; collect the key from the corpse with the glowing item below. Return to the Thieves Camp Dungeon gate, unlock it and find the chest immediately on your right. The cellar crank opens the cellar; it is not the dungeon key. The full journey between the lodge and camp is not documented here.

Thieves Camp: cave near Zhang's hideout

Start at the Thieves Camp Bell. Leave the camp on the path toward Zhang's Hideout, follow it down around the cliffside into the cave, then fight past the dogs and their master. The jade chest is on your left. This cave chest is separate from the locked dungeon chest and the Outlaw Trap grate route.

Boss landmarks, not a mandatory order

Rock Paper Shotgun lists six Crimson Forest encounters in sections 9–14. Use the nearest-Bell pairs below as a location index, not a route from each Bell, proof of mandatory kills, map totals or an unlock sequence. Hua Qianxiao, The Sword Fanatic is not Hua, Deadly Betrothed. Bai Chilian is at the end of Mirrorwood according to Maxroll; consult the existing Boss guide for combat.

Before killing Bai Chilian

Maxroll warns that killing Bai Chilian fails unfinished Festering Secret and A Healer's Mercy and locks out Boulderguard Accessory if not obtained. This is a single-source warning, not our own playtest. Check these objectives before the kill; no exact quest stages, safe backtracking or reload recovery are established. Use the linked Bai Chilian guide for the full warning.

The Chord aid has a prerequisite

According to Maxroll, The Chord appears around 80% health in phase 2 only after completing her Memory Flowers. Reaching the threshold alone is not sufficient. The exact flowers, count and activation route are not established here; do not treat a regional total as her required set. Read the linked Bai Chilian guide for aid and combat details.
